Project: Enterprise Training Department Outsourcing

Background: The client is a 300 employee, hi-growth company that provides disability insurance, third part administration and consulting services across the United States. It is a relatively new organization in the disability market and is managing through the challenges of rapid business expansion and growth.

Challenge: An increase in new management hires and promotions from individual contributor to supervisor resulted in varying management competency and difficulties in meeting short-term business production requirements. To satisfy existing clients, meet current business objectives and position for future growth critical management skill gaps needed to be addressed.

Solution: A fast-paced Discovery effort identified management and communication skill gaps and learning objectives for a critical group of management staff. Within 45 days, a customized management development program including blended learning and learning dashboard support was implemented. In parallel with the management development program, a custom project management learning program was created and implemented. All other learning and development requirements for the organization were coordinated by the part-time DeSai CLO resource including the development of a comprehensive one year development plan to meet organizational learning requirements.

Benefits: By quickly designing, developing and implementing learning programs to meet immediate management and project management skill building requirements, the company was able to overcome a significant service backlog. Outsourcing training development and managing the program implementations allowed client staff to focus on other critical initiatives including satisfying clients and new business development. Development of a one year organizational learning and development plan supported aligning training activities with prioritized business objectives.
