Governing
the
Corporate
University
The
incorporation
of
a
successful
enterprise-wide
Corporate
University
takes
enterprise-wide
goals
and
planning.
It
can
begin
with
a
single
department
and
grow
from
a
strategic
plan
to
incorporate
all
other
department
in
a
phased
approach,
or
an
enterprise-wide
mandate.
In
either
case,
a
Governance
Committee
that
represents
all
stakeholders
drives
success.
Often,
once
the
Corporate
University
is
live,
the
Governance
Committee
disbands
and
turns
it
over
to
some
form
of
IT
and
administrative
maintenance.
However,
the
continued
effort
of
a
Governance
Committee
is
imperative.
After
the
LMS
implementation,
the
committee
still
works
to
advocate
and
monitor
LMS
use.
It
remains
a
proactive,
decision
making
entity.
If
the
LMS
expands
to
include
additional
sections
of
the
company,
the
Governance
committee
may
also
grow
to
allow
for
representation
of
them.
The
committee
continues
to:
- Act
as
a
unified
leader
- Mold
the
LMS
to
remain
in
line
with
ever
changing
business
objectives
- Monitor
quality
assurance
and
provide
a
depository
for
comments
and
issues
- Oversee
continued
technical
and
administrative
operations
- Incorporate
key
business
objectives
into
learning
objectives
- Assign
responsibilities
and
ensure
accountable
actions
- Resolve
problems
and
conflicts
- Remain
alert
to
new
opportunities
and
benefits
the
LMS
could
offer
The
continued
guidance
of
a
Governance
committee
helps
assure
that
the
original
purpose
and
strategy
of
the
LMS
is
maintained
and
championed.
It
reviews
past
efforts
to
evaluate
completion
and
success
of
goals
and
maintains
a
strategic
view
of
the
future
to
plan
ahead
for
changes.
