Connecticut Hospital Association (CHA) Selects DeSai Learning to
Co-Develop Learning Program
CHA of Wallingford,
CT has teamed up with DeSai Learning of West
Hartford, CT to offer a new health community-based learning
opportunity for employees of CHA's approximately 150
member organizations, including all 31 of Connecticut's
acute care hospitals and nearly 300 personal and associate
members.
The
combination of CHA members' management training requirement
and DeSai's new learning dashboard technology
culminated in the Manager Skill Building Program.
The
Manager Skill Building Program consists of ten
core learning events and four electives focused on helping
new managers gain expertise in all key management areas.
Learning events consist of a blend of classroom events
provided by CHA and online learning events from
the DeSai Learning consortium. The Learning
Dashboard guides and supports the student's progress
through the ten-month program.
"Learning Dashboards offer a single Web-page view of related
learning activities expected to take place over a defined
period of time. Dashboards can include training for
process upgrades such as migration to a new software
level, competency and skill upgrades such as sales training,
and job role upgrades including the learning events
required for transition to a new position or responsibilities,"
said Susan Patten, senior vice president and COO of
DeSai Learning.
The
Learning Dashboard provides a one-stop solution
that enables students to interact with the training
program and each other. A community-based approach facilitates
information sharing and collaboration between students
and their leaders, as well as between peers. Both e-mail
and open discussions are used to facilitate communication.
Progress
tracking opportunities provide students and their supervisors
with a basis for ongoing development discussions. Progress
bars display the completed amount of the program in
relation to the defined period of time scheduled for
completion.
Additional
posted resources provide a complement to the core and
elective courses in the program. Pre-registration of
students into the core courses allows them to focus
on the selection of electives. Students can enroll for
any electives they choose. However, a defined number
of electives are required to complete the program.
